Facebook hacked, says no user data compromised

Facebook says it has found no evidence that any user information was compromised in a hack last month.
(CNN) -- Facebook says it was recently hacked, though it says no data about its more than a billion users was compromised.
The company described the "sophisticated attack" in a blog post on Friday, saying it took place in January when a small number of employees visited a compromised website that installed malware on their machines.
"As soon as we discovered the presence of the malware, we remediated all infected machines, informed law enforcement and began a significant investigation that continues to this day," Facebook Security said in the post.
Facebook, the largest social network in the world, is the latest high-profile site to be hacked this year. Twitter announced a similar intrusion earlier this month, and major news organizations including The New York Times, Wall Street Journal and Washington Post have also admitted to being hacked.
The news sites attributed the breaches to hackers working for the Chinese government, but neither Facebook nor Twitter mention China when describing their attacks.
"Facebook was not alone in this attack. It is clear that others were attacked and infiltrated recently as well," said the blog post. "As one of the first companies to discover this malware, we immediately took steps to start sharing details about the infiltration with the other companies and entities that were affected. "
Unlike Twitter, Facebook said it has found no evidence that any user information was compromised. Twitter said that user names, encrypted passwords and e-mail addresses for as many as 250,000 users were potentially grabbed by the hackers. It reset passwords for all affected accounts.
The string of hacks have primarily exploited vulnerabilities in the programming language Java, which is installed on most computers by default. Facebook said the site responsible for its attack took advantage of a previously unknown Java vulnerability, which Oracle patched on February 1.
In January, the Department of Homeland Security issued an alert about the security-challenged software and recommended people turn it off on their computers. Apple turned off Java by default for its OS X users as a precaution. Full instructions on how to disable Java on any computer can be found on Oracle's website. If you must use Java, make sure that you have downloaded the latest updates, which include key security patches.
Facebook said it will continue to work with law enforcement and others in the industry to prevent future attacks.

Holy Man Claims To Have Lived Without Food, Water For 70 Years

A 83-year-old holy man claims he has spent the last seven decades without food and water.
The long-haired and bearded yogi is under 24-hour observation by a team of 30 specialists during three weeks of tests at a hospital in the western Indian city of Ahmedabad.
Two cameras have been set up in his room, while a mobile camera films him when he goes outside, guaranteeing round-the-clock observation.
His body will be scanned and his brain and heart activity measured with electrodes.
“The observation from this study may throw light on human survival without food and water,” said Dr. G. Ilavazahagan, who is directing the research. “This may help in working out strategies for survival during natural calamities, extreme stressful conditions and extra-terrestrial explorations like future missions to the Moon and Mars by the human race.”
Since the experiment began on April 22, Jani has had no food or water and has not been to the toilet.
“The exercise of taking this yogi under the medical scanner is to understand what energy supports his existence,” Ilavazahagan added. “Jani says he meditates to get energy. Our soldiers will not be able to meditate, but we would still like to find out more about the man and his body.”
Jani, who dresses in red and wears a nose ring, grew up in Charod village in the Mehsana district in Gujarat.
He claims to have been blessed by a goddess when he was 8-years-old, which has enabled him to survive without sustenance.

Nigeria can defeat Cote D’Ivoire (MIKEL)

The Super Eagles midfielder has praised the work of the coach following their qualification for the last eight of the Afcon where they will now meet the ElephantsBy Lolade Adewuyi, In Rustenburg
Nigeria midfielder John Obi Mikel has said that they have an
opportunity of stamping their authority on the Africa Cup of
Nations when they meet Cote D’Ivoire in Sunday’s quarter final
match.

The Super Eagles defeated Ethiopia 2-0 courtesy of Victor Moses’
penalties late in the encounter on Tuesday night.

“It’s been great for us qualifying [for the tournament] because
last time we didn’t make it. This time we’ve qualified and the
group of players we have, and the new manager we have – he’s come
into the team and made his stance. If you want to play for the
country you have to give a hundred and ten percent, that’s what he
demands from every player,” Mikel said at post-match press
conference.

“We’ve come out here to do exactly what he wants us to do and to
play for Nigeria as well. I think it is fantastic, we’re enjoying
it.

“Now we’re in the quarter finals, we just have to keep going and
do what we do in training and hopefully we will defeat Ivory Coast
and go to the semi finals. It’s going to be difficult but hopefully
we’ll make it.”

The Chelsea midfielder rated the game against the Ethiopians
highly but that they knew what they were up against while preparing
for the encounter.

“I think it was really tough, we knew they were coming into the
game looking to win it as well. We knew they were going to be
organised in the middle so we tried to make sure we didn’t play
through the middle.

“They didn’t give me any space to play as well. Throughout the
game I had one or two people running behind me. It was tough but
sometimes I tried to get my space.

“It was difficult for both teams but this is what you demand [of
yourself] when you come to a stage like this when you have to win
to qualify,” said Mikel.

The Super Eagles will next take on the Elephants in a big West
African duel in Sunday’s quarter final encounter in Rustenburg.

Man Murders His Girlfriend After Catching Her In Bed With Another Man

Police identified the woman as Maybe Last Dube. Police spokesperson said the incident happened on Sunday between 10pm and 11pm. He said Dube died at Gweru Provincial Hospital after her boyfriend, Garikai Mpofu (32), in a fit of rage, banged her head thrice against a stone.

"On the said date, it is alleged that Mpofu visited his girlfriend Dube at her house and failed to locate her. He later spotted her at the back of her bedroom with another lover. The other lover (whose name has not been given) fled the scene upon noticing that he had been spotted," said Police.

He said Mpofu grabbed Dube and banged her head thrice against a stone. He alleged that Mpofu also kicked Dube all over her body. He only stopped when the woman pleaded for mercy.

"The two then proceeded to Mpofu's house where the suspect assaulted Dube with an electric cord all over her body. The suspect later woke up his 62-year-old father asking him to ferry Dube to Shurugwi District Hospital"

He said Dube's condition deteriorated and she was transferred to Gweru Provincial Hospital. Asst Insp Mahoko said the matter was reported to the police who attended the scene and arrested Mpofu.

"On the same day that Mpofu was arrested, a police report was made to the effect that Dube had died. Her body was conveyed to Gweru Provincial Hospital mortuary for a postmortem," he said.

Landlord Rapes Girl, 10, Then Attempts To Cut Off Her Genitals With Knife

A man is in trouble after he attempted to insert a knife into a 10-year-old girl's privates.

The man, (name withheld to protect the victim), is alleged to have attempted to do so after making a 'feast' of the hapless girl. It is reported that the man is the landlord where the girl and her mother stayed.

On the day in question, it is reported that the girl was left in the custody of the man by her mother who had gone to the city centre. Taking advantage of the trust bestowed upon him, the man is said to have thought it wise to quench his sexual zest.

The landlord is alleged to have called the young girl who was playing with friends to the house. The girl is understood to have taken time to respond to the call which forced the man to call her again. The girl reportedly asked the man what he wanted before getting inside the house.

Within seconds of getting inside, the suspect is said to have locked the door and told her that she was going nowhere. The girl screamed but a slap in the face saw her getting quiet. He allegedly fondled the girl's privates, saying that he wanted to 'eat them'. As per his threats, the seemingly ruthless man forced himself on the innocent girl.

After his alleged cruelty, the man reportedly took a knife and tried to insert it into the girl's organ. She, however, screamed which forced him to give up before releasing her. The girl told her school mates who in turn told their teacher leading to a report being made to the police.

The man was caught and remanded before a Zimbabwean court. His actions were deemed abnormal by the magistrate who ordered that he should be taken for a medical check up as stated under the Mental Health Act.

“Underwear King”: Naked man creates stir in viral video (VIEWER DISCRETION)

-->
If clothes make the man, a crotchety naked guy just crowned himself underwear king of Philadelphia.
The baffling streaker climbed onto an empty bike rack on the front of a SEPTA bus and put his boxer shorts on his head. Then he dismounted and ran through the streets as a captivated crowd of spectators gathered around.
“I was just cutting hair, all of a sudden I see this white boy just running around acting crazy,” said barber Lou Jeffery, who used his smartphone to record the middle-aged man’s bizarre exploits at the intersection of Kensington Avenue and Tioga Street.
The frazzled nudist scampered around as if he were a character from the opening moments of “The Terminator,” inexplicably emerging nude in an unfamiliar land.
He started chasing Jefferey when he realized his unusual unclothed escapade was being recorded.

The unidentified man barely appeared to realize he was exposed as he strolled around the neighborhood.
“Of course I put my camera down and started running myself,” Jeffrey said. “I [AM NOT] going to let him chase after me.”
José Mora also shot footage of the episode from his brother’s restaurant and caught the man’s odd pursuit of Jeffery on camera, reported CBS Philly.
“I don’t think he knew what he was doing actually,” said Mora.
At one point the naked man tried to put his boxers on again to no avail. Some witnesses said that police eventually arrested the man.
The video was originally posted to Facebook and has since been removed, but it is still drawing viewers on YouTube, according to NBC 10.

Eagles Still in Full Flight(WESTERHOF)

Westerhof gives Keshi’s team full marks, Dutchman optimistic team will improve

Former Nigeria Manager, Clemense Westerhof believes the Super Eagles will overcome their heartbreaking 1-1 draw with Burkina Faso on Monday and beat defending champions this Friday to remain on course for the quarter-finals of 2013 AFCON.

With the Chipolopolo of Zambia slated to battle the Super Eagles in their second match of Group C on Friday, Westerhof reckons the Nigerian side will be in for a real tough duel, but will come out victors.

“Zambia is a complete team. The match will be difficult, very difficult,” Westerhof predicts.

The Dutch man who managed the Super Eagles for five years between 1989 through 1994 expresses his confidence that Keshi has the magic wand to edge Zambia.

“Yes, Zambia is a complete team and defending champions. But I’m sure Keshi will fix the team (Super Eagles) better, and will win the crucial game,” he stresses.

Westerhof  rates Monday's match between Super Eagles and their Stallions of Burkina Faso counterparts as the best in terms of quality so far at the Africa Cup of Nations holding in South Africa.

Westerhof who guided the Super Eagles to win the 1994 edition of the tournament in Tunisia tells Complete Sports from his home country that the two West African teams posted a commendable performance in their opening match of the 2013 AFCON in Nelspruit, South Africa.

“I watched the game (between Nigeria and Burkina Faso). It was an excellent performance by the two teams.  I must confess that it was the best game I have seen so far in the competition,” Westerhof states.

The man reputed as Dutch-Gerian and who transformed Nigerian football into its glorious height in the 90s, winning the Nations Cup in Tunisia in 1994, leading the Eagles to their first ever FIFA World Cup finals in USA same year however expressed unhappiness over the Super Eagles inability to wrap up the game after taking a first half lead.

“The Super Eagles were on top of the game right from the start. They could have wrapped up the game. I think they let it slip when that (Efe Ambrose) defender was sent off and the Eagles could not manage his absence.

“Yes, it’s difficult under the situation, but I thought (Stephen) Keshi could have brought in that defender who plays with ADO DEN HAAG here in Holland (Kenneth Omeruo).

“He (Omeruo) could have been deployed to the left side of the defence while Ikechukwu Uche takes charge of the attack from the left.

“Again, that player in jersey number 7 (Ahmed Musa) should have kept the ball at the flag because the game was almost over. Once the attack was lost, one long ball by the Burkina Faso defenders and it was 1-1.”

The super Eagles one all draw with Burkina Faso on Monday left the AFCON group C wide open and square after Zambia drew 1-1 in the first Group C game.

With the defending champions slated to battle the Super Eagles in the group’s second game on Friday, Westerhof said the Nigerian side will be in for a real tough duel.

“Zambia is a complete team. The match will be difficult, very difficult”.

Westerhof who managed the Super Eagles for five years between 1989 through 1994 voiced his confidence that Keshi has the magic wand to edge Zambia.

“Yes, Zambia is a complete team and defending champions. But I’m sure Keshi will fix the team (Eagles) better and will win the game”, he stressed.

Super Eagles Trounce Portuguese 2nd Division Side, Farense 5-0, Depart For AFCON 2013

The Super Eagles ended their training camp in Faro, Portugal in style on Tuesday defeating Portuguese second division side, Farense 5-0, in a game described by the Nigerian  Coach Stephen Keshi as dress rehearsal for the team’s opening game against Burkina Faso on January 21.
The match, which was again played at the Browns Sports and Leisure Club in Faro, where the Nigerian side stayed throughout its sojourn in Portugal, was barely five minutes when right back, Efe Ambrose surging run into the danger area of the Portuguese was met with a vicious hacking. Centre referee Luis Costa wasted no time in pointing to the spot.
Chelsea star, John Mikel Obi, stepped in to coolly slot home the opener. But Farense made things difficult for the Eagles as Senegalese born striker, Sone Diop, Falardo and dangerman Fabio Texeira attacked sporadically in search of an equalizer that never happened. The Eagles on the other hand had plenty of chances to have buried the game in the first but Nosa Igiebor hit the cross bar thrice, Mikel followed suit with a fiery shot that also hit the bar and Emmanuel Emenike also missed a sitter.
In the second half Mr. Keshi made sweeping changes. Kenneth Omeruo was brought in to replace Joseph Yobo, Juwon Oshaniwa for Elderson Echejile, Ogenyi Onazi for Mikel Obi, Sunday Mba for Igiebor, Obiorah Nwankwo for Fegor Ogude, Ikechukwu Uche for Brown Ideye, Gabriel Reuben for Efe Ambrose mid-way into the half, same as Vincent Enyeama whoi was replaced by Chigozie Agbim.
There was no immediate impact with the changes until in the 75th minute when an Emenike’s furious onslaught down the left wing of the pitch was clinically finished off by Ikechukwu Uche for one of his three goals of the evening. Goalkeeper Agbim must be credited for his quick counter-attack throw to Emenike.
Uche was to score another in the 80th minute after nice footwork by Ejike Uzoenyi left him face to face with goalie Sergio Serrar. He blasted into the roof of the net. He completed his hat trick of the evening after a fine interchange of passes between him, Onazi and Ejike.
Just as the referee was about blowing the final whistle Ejike set up Emenike for the final goal on the dot of 90minutes for a comprehensive demolition of the Farense side. The referee did not even allow for a restart after the fifth goal.
Farense Coach Antero Afonso said at the end of the encounter that his side has learnt useful lessons from the Nigerian national team and predicted that the Super Eagles will do well at the championship going by the quality of players he saw in the friendly. “You have what it takes to win the championship, but you must take each game as it comes and adopt different styles for different opposition. You have very quick players so don’t allow yourself to be under pressure at any time in the tournament. I may not know the teams that will be at the tournament but the team I saw today should be among the favorites to win the African Cup”, he said.
The Nigerian side will depart Faro by 12:30 Portuguese time for Lisbon from where the team will connect a flight to Paris, France and from there to Johannesburg, South Africa. The team is expected in Nelspruit, venue of two of its first two group games on Thursday morning. source: SAHARA REPORTERS
